Advice for Hardwood Flooring Maintenance and Care

Hogan Flooring offers expert advice on maintaining and caring for your hardwood floors. Discover how to keep your floors looking pristine with our professional tips:

Hardwood Maintenance:

  • Prefinished Hardwood: Sanded, stained, and coated with finish before being sold. Lower VOCs because the floor is finished in the factory. No sanding in your home means no dust!
  • Solid Hardwood: Made from a single piece of hardwood cut from a tree trunk. Best in area above grade that are not prone to moisture, humidity or temperature change, Typically less expensive than engineered. Ranges from widths of 2 1/4" - 4 1/4"
  • Engineered Hardwood: Made of multiple layers of wood glued together with veneer of hardwood on the surface. More durable and dimensionally stable than solid hardwood. Less likely to warp or buckle. Typically more expensive and more labor intensive to install. Allows you to have wider board widths and glue down on concrete or over radiant heat.
